Duplex vs Super Duplex Valves
Duplex and super-duplex stainless steels combine austenitic and ferritic microstructures, with super-duplex grades generally providing higher alloy content and stronger resistance to demanding chloride environments.
Material performance depends on chemistry, heat treatment, ferrite balance, welding procedures and corrosion testing, so the grade designation must be supported by controlled manufacturing.
Specify the exact ASTM or UNS grade, corrosion-test requirement, service chemistry, temperature, trim and welding or repair restrictions when purchasing duplex or super-duplex valves.
