Knife Gate Valve Actuator Selection

Knife gate actuator sizing is driven by gate area, maximum differential pressure, packing friction, seat friction, solids buildup and required margin rather than nominal valve size alone.

Pneumatic cylinders are common for fast on/off service, electric actuators suit remote powered control, and hydraulic cylinders are useful where high thrust or hydraulic power is available.

Provide maximum differential pressure, air or power supply, fail position, stroke time, cycling frequency and control accessories when requesting an actuated knife gate valve.
