Knife Gate Valve vs Gate Valve
A knife gate valve is designed around a thin gate moving through slurry, fibers or solids-bearing media, while a conventional gate valve is normally selected for cleaner isolation service with a wedge or parallel closure.
The important comparison is not which valve is generally better, but whether the media can pack into a conventional gate cavity and whether the knife-gate seat, packing and differential-pressure limit fit the line.
For an RFQ, state solids concentration, particle or fiber content, maximum differential pressure, pressure direction, seat requirement and cycling frequency before choosing between the two valve families.
