Metal Seated Ball Valve Coatings

Metal-seated ball valves often use hard coatings or hardfacing to improve wear, galling and erosion resistance on the ball and seat contact surfaces.

Tungsten-carbide, chromium-carbide and other hardfacing systems have different deposition methods, thickness, hardness, temperature limits and compatibility with the base material.

The coating should be selected from the actual fluid, solids, temperature, pressure, cycling and shutoff requirement, with the manufacturing procedure and finishing method controlled as part of the valve design.
