Metal Seat vs Resilient Seat Knife Gate Valve

Metal seats tolerate temperature, abrasion and solids differently from elastomer seats, while resilient seats can provide tighter soft-seat shutoff when the media and temperature are compatible.

Abrasive slurry can damage soft seats, but a metal seat may accept a different leakage level and higher operating thrust; the trade-off needs to be made from actual service conditions.

Specify solids, particle hardness, temperature, chemistry, shutoff class and expected cycling before choosing the seat system.
