Virgin PTFE offers low friction and broad chemical compatibility, while reinforced PTFE adds fillers that can improve mechanical strength, wear resistance and dimensional stability.
The reinforcement system changes the usable temperature, friction and media compatibility, so an RPTFE seat should not be treated as a single universal material.
Provide fluid, temperature, pressure, cycling and leakage requirements when comparing PTFE and RPTFE seats, especially where the valve operates near the material’s practical limits.
